Alice M. Hustedde

Alice M. Hustedde, age 69 of Carlyle, passed away at her home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017.

Mrs. Hustedde was born on October 7, 1947, in DeKalb County, Illinois the daughter of Avery and Wilma (Huge) Lawhorn. She married Wallace Kaufman and they were later divorced. She married Ralph Hustedde at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon on December 3, 1994, and he survives in Carlyle.

Alice is also survived by her children - Tina Gray of Sandoval, Wally Kaufman of Sandoval, Bonnie Sexton and husband Michael of Mt. Vernon, Connie Tomes and husband Kenny of Sandoval, Gina Dinkelman and husband Terry of South Carolina, and Jessica Faith and special friend Andy Sharp of Pocahontas; 21 grandchildren and several great grandchildren; 2 sisters - Sandy Engelman of Centralia and Diane Wagner and husband Russell of Glen Carbon; and her father-in-law - Maurice Hustedde of Carlyle.

She was preceded in death by her parents - Avery and Wilma Lawhorn, a grandson - Austin Branson, 3 brothers, one sister, and her mother-in-law - Alice Hustedde.

Mrs. Hustedde owned and operated Pit Barbecue in Carlyle for 11 years. Alice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, family and friends, and she also enjoyed cooking, playing cards, and flower gardening.

A funeral service will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 28, 2017. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Thursday, April 27, 2017 from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM, and on Friday morning from 8:00 AM until the time of the service.
