Alois G. Beckmann Obituary (1933 - 2016)

Alois G. Beckmann, age 82 of Bartelso, died Sunday, January 10, 2016 at Clinton Manor Living Center in New Baden. He was born November 16, 1933 in Bartelso, a son of Fred and Elizabeth (Wessel) Beckmann. He married Margaret M. "Margie" Loepker on September 20, 1955 in Bartelso, and she preceded him in death on September 15, 2014. Mr. Beckmann is survived by his children - Debbie Schomaker and husband Stan of New Baden, Nancy Griesbaum and husband David of Okawville, Sandy Rehkemper and husband Mike of New Baden, Allen Beckmann and wife Laura of Bartelso, Joyce Schomaker and husband Dale of New Baden and Glen Beckmann and friend Tara Eversgerd of Bartelso; 15 grandchildren - Nick Schomaker and wife Anita, Kelly Ross and husband Randy, Paula Stepp and husband Curt, Jennifer Riggs and husband Josh, Jessi Biggs and husband Dusty, Jake Griesbaum and special friend Amber, Brad Rehkemper and wife Amy, Tricia Rehkemper and special friend Bobby H., Karlee Rehkemper, Nathan Beckmann and wife Jennifer, Allyn Beckmann and friend Nick Bullin, Casey Schomaker, Brent Schomaker and wife Nicole, Blake Beckmann and wife Marlene and Tommy Conway; 15 great grandchildren and he was anticipating 2 more great grandchildren. Mr. Beckmann is also survived by his brothers and sisters - Blanch Brueggemann, Helen Heidenreich, Johanna Diekemper, Mary Mueller, Leo Beckmann and wife Leona, Jerry Beckmann and wife Marilyn, and Alfie Beckmann and wife Helen; his in-laws, Bernette Beckmann, Virginia Beckmann, Fran Loepker, Rosemary McDowell and Severin Loepker; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents - Fred and Elizabeth Beckmann; a daughter - Jackie Beckmann; and 3 brothers, Paul, Dominic and Leonard Beckmann. Mr. Beckmann was a member of St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, and a 50 year member of Local 662, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Alois was an avid hunter, and enjoyed the time spent at his clubhouse. He liked to follow Clinton County League baseball, playing the harmonica, and most of all the time spent with his family and grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso. Interment will follow at St. Cecilia Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Cecilia Church on Wednesday, January 13 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday at church from noon until 2:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in his memory are suggested to Bartelso Fire Department or to Bartelso Park and will be received at the church or at Zieren Funeral Home.
