Alvina R. Peppenhorst Obituary (1920 - 2011)

Alvina R. Peppenhorst was born on October 22, 1920, in Beaver Prairie, a daughter of Ben and Elizabeth (Wolters) Pollmann. She married Anthony Peppenhorst on May 8, 1944, at St. Damian's Church in Damiansville and he preceded her in death on December 6, 2005. Mrs. Peppenhorst worked at Moran Shoe Company in Carlyle, and was the bookkeeper for the family business, Peppenhorst Excavating. Alvina R. Peppenhorst died on Thursday, March 3, 2011, at St. Joseph Hospital in Breese. She was 90 years of age. Mrs. Peppenhorst is survived by her children -- Connie (Tom) Kolb of Fairview Heights, Illinois; Ron (Mary) Peppenhorst of Highland; Barb (Ron) Becker of Beckemeyer; Cindy (Tom) Abernathy of Carlyle and Marlene (Jim) Beckmann of Beckemeyer; 13 grandchildren - Amy Kreklow (Dave), Eric Kolb (fiance Becky Gehling), Bryan Kolb (special friend Majka Koszykowski), Todd Peppenhorst (special friend Jennifer Kapp), Tricia Peppenhorst (fiance Clent Schulte), Lauren Peppenhorst (fiance Jared Langhauser), Dayna Becker (special friend Adam Berry), Cody Becker, Jason Abernathy, Brendan Abernathy, Christopher Abernathy, Neal Beckmann and Audrey Beckmann; 3 great grandchildren - Allison Kreklow, Cameron Kreklow and Jaron Seiffert; a sister, Regina Peppenhorst (husband Cleo, deceased) of Beaver Prairie; a brother-in-law, Joe Peppenhorst (wife June, deceased) of Beckemeyer and a sister-in-law, Grace Peppenhorst (husband Paul, deceased) of Beckemeyer. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister - Leona (August) Petermeyer; a brother-in-law - Leander (Viola) Peppenhorst and her sisters-in-law -- Marie (Joe) Suarez and Monica (Eldred) Halluin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at St. Anthony's Church in Beckemeyer with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, March 6 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Monday, March 7 from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Peppenhorst are suggested to St. Anthony's Church or to the charity of the donor's choice and will be received at Zieren Day Funeral Home.
