Charles "Chuck" Loepker Obituary (1922

Charles H. "Chuck" Loepker was born on November 8, 1922, in Bartelso, Illinois, a son of Joseph G. and Isabella (Wichmann) Loepker. He married Florence Kuhl on November 21, 1945, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle and she survives in Carlyle. Mr. Loepker was a carpenter and a 60 year member of the Carpenters Local 480, Freeburg. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle and a 60 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1382, Carlyle. Mr. Loepker was a member and assistant chief of Carlyle Fire Department for 52 years. In 1953, he was instrumental in organizing Carlyle's fire protection district. Chuck was a veteran of the United States Army and a lifetime member of American Legion Post 404, Carlyle. Charles H. Loepker entered into rest on Thursday, January 17, 2008, at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese, Illinois. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Loepker is survived by his wife Florence Loepker of Carlyle; 2 daughters Janice Gilmor and husband Steve of Glen Carbon, Illinois and Kathy Majeski of Centerville, Ohio; 2 sons Lou Loepker and wife Donna of Freeburg, Illinois and Jim Loepker and wife Carol of Carlyle; 13 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; 3 sisters Sr. Mary Maurice, A.S.C. of Murphysboro, Illinois, Rosemary McDowell of Fredericktown, Missouri and Margie Beckmann and husband Alois of Bartelso, Illinois and 2 brothers Paul Loepker and wife Frances of St. Louis, Missouri and Severin Loepker and wife Janet of Breese. Mr. Loepker was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Todd Majeski; a sister Anna Loepker and a brother Louis G. Loepker. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 21, 2008, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends and family may attend visiting hours at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, January 20, 2008, from 4:00 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 10:30 A.M. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary at 7:00 P.M. on Sunday evening at St. Mary's Church. The Carlyle Fire Department will honor Mr. Loepker's service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials in memory of Mr. Loepker are suggested to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association and will be received at the funeral home.
