Cyril L. Eilers Obituary (1916 - 2008)

Cyril L. Eilers, age 91 of Carlyle, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese. He was born Sept. 16, 1916 in Breese, a son of Herman and Anna (Ehlers) Eilers. He married Thelma Trouba on May 7, 1938 in Belleville, and she survives in Breese. Also surviving is a daughter, Phyllis Schlott & husband Kenneth of Homer Glen, IL; a son James Eilers & wife Sheila of Chicago; 3 grandchildren, Brian Schlott, Brad Schlott and Kristen Woods & husband Tom; and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Alvin and Norbert Eilers and 2 sisters, Cornelia Petermeyer and Lorena Kreke. Mr. Eilers represented Prudential Insurance Company in Clinton County for 35 years, and had served in the U.S. Navy during W.W.11. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Carlyle; Scott Lodge #79, A.F. American Legion Post 404, and a past member of the Carlyle Lions Club.
