Dolores Meyer Obituary (1925

Dolores Ann Meyer, age 81 of Carlyle, died on Thursday, August 10, 2006 at her residence in Carlyle. She was born on June 29, 1925, in Carlyle, Illinois, a daughter of Ben and Catherine (Poehler) Hempen. She married Ferd "Fritz" Meyer on April 25, 1953, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle and he survives in Carlyle. Also surviving are 3 daughters Donna Wagner and husband Lee of Carlyle, Bette Meyer of Belleville and Rita Meyer of Belleville; a son Bill Meyer and wife Maureen of Chicago; 2 grandchildren Sydney and Isabelle Meyer; 2 sisters Marie Meyer of Belleville and Billie Werner of St. Louis; 4 sisters-in-law Dolores Hempen, Betty Hempen, Mary Meyer and Sr. Elizabeth Meyer, O.S.B and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 2 brothers Paul and Ray Hempen; 5 brothers-in-law Sam Jannett, Ernie Werner, Robert, Paul and Joseph Meyer; a sister-in-law Sr. Anselma Meyer, O.S.B. and 2 nephews Allen Hempen and Gary Jannett. Mrs. Meyer lived in Belleville for 30 years and retired to Carlyle in 1987. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. Dolores thoroughly enjoyed traveling, being a Cardinals fan and working crossword puzzles. Her outgoing personality enabled her to strike up a conversation with friend and stranger alike. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Meyer may be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice of Southern Illinois or to St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. A special thanks to Dr. Guillermo Rodriguez and his staff and to Hospice of Southern Illinois for their compassionate care for our wife and mother. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, August 14, 2006, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, August 13, 2006, from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00-9:30 A.M.
