Doloris Schilling Obituary (1928

Doloris "Doddie" Schilling was born on August 4, 1928, in Carlyle, a daughter of Walter and Amanda Catherine (Cahoon) Thompson. She married Robert "Roger" Schilling on April 16, 1946 and he survives in Carlyle. Doddie worked at Wee Walker Shoe Factory in Carlyle from age 16 until its closing and then worked at Quip in Carlyle until age 75. She was a giving person who loved shopping and spending time with her family. Doloris Schilling died on Thursday, January 5, 2012, at Carlyle Healthcare Center. She was 83 years of age. In addition to her husband Roger, Doddie is also survived by her sons - Dan Schilling and wife Sharon of Edmond, Oklahoma and John Schilling of Bunker Hill, Illinois; a daughter - Debbie Lurkins and husband Dale of Carlyle; 8 grandchildren - Cory Schilling and wife Vicki, Casey Schilling and wife Lori, Stacy English and husband Mike, Erin Richardson and husband David, Tracy Schilling and wife Jill, Jenny Schilling, Tim Schilling and wife Allison and Zach Schilling and wife Christy; 10 great grandchildren; her sisters - Stella Solis of Carlyle, Helen Rommelmann and special friend Fred Maddux of Carlyle, Betty Hammel and husband Ralph of Peoria and Joan Spicer of Sandoval; a sister-in-law - Bernice Thompson of Carlyle and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter - Barbara Amelung; her brothers - Gene Thompson, Harry Thompson and Elmer Thompson and her brothers-in-law - Elbert "Chub" Rommelmann and Ken Spicer. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 9, 2012, at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Mark Goldman, officiating. Interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until service time. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Schilling are suggested to Heartland Hospice and will be received at the funeral home.
