Dorothy Lee "Dott" (nee Hall) Spaeth, 88, died at home on May 18, 2018, in Cumming, GA, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on September 22, 1929, to Dr. J. Carl Hall and Dorothy Mildred Hall, she grew up in Centralia, IL, and graduated from Lindenwood College in 1951 with degrees in English & Drama. She performed in Summer Stock in New England, pursuing her passion for drama and theatre.
Dott and Edward W. "Bill" Spaeth married in 1952, and he passed in 2014. She is survived by children, Dianna "Dee" Sechelski, Edward W. II "Eddy", Carla McDougall, and John, along with 8 cherished grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren. She contracted and survived Polio in 1955, prior to the birth of Stephanie, who passed at birth. The family moved from Carlyle, IL to Atlanta, GA in 1965.
She was a wonderful Mom and full-time homemaker, always providing strong guidance, consistent structure, and life-enhancing lessons. She then spent 25 years with Lillie Rubin, Rich's, and retired in her 70's from Macy's, where was known as her store's "Mom and Counselor".
Forever a fashionista, her exquisite style and panache were both renowned and unparalleled, only to be equaled by an immense love for her family.
We thank caregivers Emma Konan, Suzanne Denton and Carol Vincent for their love, kindness and service during her last 3 years.
A graveside service will be held at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carlyle at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Swan Center Outreach (swancenter.org), a horse rescue, sanctuary and educational facility serving children with special needs. EventsMemorial Contribution Event Information Services will be set for a future date to be determined.
