Ellen L. Kraus

Ellen L. Kraus was born on August 12, 1923, in Ferrin, Illinois, a daughter of William and Bertha (Reinkensmeyer) Hermsmeyer. She married Eric A. Kraus on October 18, 1953, in Ferrin and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2006. Ellen was a housewife and had made her home at Sunrise of Chesterfield for the past 3 years. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman and was a member of the Ladies' Aid at the church. Ellen loved quilting and upholstering. Ellen L. Kraus entered into rest on Sunday, January 08, 2012, at Sunrise of Chesterfield in Chesterfield, Missouri. She was 88 years of age. She is survived by 2 sons, Larry Kraus and wife Valeri of St. Louis and Dale Kraus and wife Phyllis of Dyersburg, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Jessica Kraus-Venczel and husband Scott of Clarksville, Tennessee and Joshua Kraus of Dyersburg, Matthew Kraus and Andrew Kraus, both of St. Louis; a sister - Ann Nehrt of Carlyle; 2 brothers - Wilbert Hermsmeyer and wife Shirley and Edwin Hermsmeyer and wife Verdell, all of Ferrin and a sister-in-law - Pauline Vogt and husband John of Lake Placid, Florida. In addition to her husband Eric, Mrs. Kraus is preceded in death by a sister - Leona Nehrt and husband Clifford and a brother-in-law - Elmer Nehrt. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman with Rev. Stephen Krenz, officiating. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle and on Wednesday from 9:00 - 10:00 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Kraus are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church, Christ Our Rock Lutheran High School, KUFO Lutheran Hour Radio or to the Alzheimer's Association and will be revived at Zieren Day Funeral Home.
