Elsie W. Koch Obituary (1917

Elsie W. Koch, age 97 of Beckemeyer, died on Wednesday, December 10, 2014, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois. Ms. Koch was born on January 18, 1917, in Beckemeyer, Illinois, a daughter of Fred and Martha (Dorries) Koch. She graduated from the Brown Business College in St. Louis and worked as a legal secretary for William Murphy in Carlyle. Elsie was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Breese, and enjoyed following politics, reading, and history. She also loved travelling, looking for arrowheads on the family farm, and ice skating. Ms. Koch is survived by 2 nephews - Donald and David Koch of Carlyle. She was preceded in death by her parents - Fred and Martha Koch; and her siblings - Martha Koch, Doris Ranz and husband Amel, Richard Koch, Herbert Koch and wife Violet, and Selma "Semmie" Koch. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, December 13, 2014, at Grace Baptist Church in Trenton, Illinois, with Pastor Bob Marsh, officiating. Interment will follow at St. John's Cemetery in Breese. Visitation will be held at Grace Baptist Church in Trenton on Saturday morning from 9:00 - 11:00 A.M. Memorial donations in memory of Ms. Koch are suggested to St. John's United Church of Christ, St. John's Cemetery, or to the American Heart Association and will be received at the service or at Zieren Day Funeral Home.
