Eric Kraus Obituary (1925 - 2006)

Eric A. Kraus, age 81 of Hoffman, Illinois, died on Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Carlyle Healthcare Center. He was born May 5, 1925 in rural Hoyleton, a son of William and Clara (Weihe) Kraus. He married Ellen Hermsmeyer on Oct. 18, 1953 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin, and she survives. Also surviving are 2 sons, Larry Kraus & wife Valeri of St. Louis, and Dale Kraus & wife Phyllis of Dyersburg, Tennessee; 4 grandchildren, Jessica of Nashville, Tennessee and Joshua, Matthew and Andrew all of St. Louis; and a sister- Pauline Vogt & husband John of Lake Placid, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother- Carl, and a sister- Irene Collmeyer. Mr. Kraus worked for Natural Gas Pipeline of America in Hoffman for 36 years, and had served in the U.S. Navy. He was a member and former Elder of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoffman, a member of the Trinity Lutheran Mens' Club, and served on the Church's cemetery committee. He was also a member of V.F. W. Post 2055, Centralia. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, Aug. 17 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Stephen Krenz officiating. Interment will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and at Church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until service time.
