Joshua Carter

–

Carlyle, Illinois

Joshua Raue Carter was born on November 22, 1989 to Mercy Carter and Gerry Pittman in St. Louis, MO. He lived in St. Louis during his formative years. As a teen, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at Oaks of Righteousness Worship Center in St. Louis, MO.

Joshua attended Nottingham CAJT High School in St. Louis, MO. He went on to attend 160 Driving Academy, where he studied for his CDL-Class A drivers license. He earned a living as a home health aide while working for Addus Home Healthcare. His certification in home healthcare allowed him the privilege to be the primary caregiver for his beloved grandmother, Mother Maurice Carter. Joshua also loved studying the Bible. When studying the Word, he was adamant about digging in to his Biblical studies to learn as much as he could. Joshua planned to return to college this spring to pursue his education and dream of becoming a digital creator.

When he was not studying or working, Joshua could be found pursuing his many life’s passions with his family and friends. Joshua had a sweet disposition that showed up in many ways. For starters, he loved computer gaming; his gaming handle was “Slimshot” - because he was always able to make the ‘slim’ shot that most players could not. He enjoyed having competitive gaming sessions with his brothers, cousin and friends. Joshua had excellent technical and mechanical skills. It was not unusual for him to build his own computers from scratch. His love of gourmet cooking often found him helping his mother on the family’s food truck. Joshua loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting as time allowed. He had a dog (Clementine Margaret Ann Carter); Clem was loyal to him for 9 years and faithful down to his very last breath. Joshua loved to travel with family and worked out at the gym whenever he had a free moment. Joshua was in a loving relationship with Miss Andrea Yarbrough. Our sweet and wellrounded young man is gone much too soon and will be dearly missed.

Joshua is without a doubt looking forward to seeing many friends and loved ones in heaven. Those waiting to embrace him in heaven include: Great-grandparents, Ruby and Luther Boyd and Doris and Virgil Carter - Grandparents: Walter and Myrtle Pittman - great uncles: Gregory Boyd and Thomas Carter. Great-aunts: Carolyn Boyd-Brown - Vickie Jones - Jackie Boyd - Patricia Coach. Uncles: Tyrone Carter - Dominque Frazier - Walter Pittman - Ronald (Sherry) Pittman. Aunt: De-Rance Pittman.

Those who will miss him on this side of heaven include: his Grandparents: Danny and Maurice Carter - Parents: Mercy Carter and Gerry Pittman. Siblings: Jacob Carter, Jestine Ray Carter, Torin Triplett, Jr., Trecia Triplett and Jeremiah Pittman. Aunts and Uncles: Muzette Carter, Daniel Carter and Theda Pittman. Great aunts and uncles are: Duane Boyd, Terry (Reed) Hampton, Amanda (Kelvin) Boyd, Robin Boyd, Sandra Collins, Deborah Carter and Virgil Carter.

Joshua was blessed to have a large and loving family. With that comes a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Sweet Joshua was an amazing soul. Short with words; Big with love.

Joshua Carter passed away at his home on January 29, 2025, at 35 years of age.
