Judith V. Shaver Obituary (1946

Judy V. Shaver was born on November 23, 1946, in Breese, Illinois, a daughter of Paul and Nelda (Menestrina) Zieren. She married Larry Shaver on June 8, 1991, at St. Teresa's Church in Belleville, and he survives in Breese. She graduated from Maryville University in 1968, and taught at the Germantown School District from 1968 until 2001. She read for the Lady of the Snows information service, delivered meals on wheels while living in O'Fallon, Illinois and was a former head of the Youth Council at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. She was a member of St. Mary's Church, and the ASPCA. Judy lost her 7-year battle with cancer, but in doing so she taught her family and friends much about living and dying. Judith V. Shaver died on Saturday, January 15, 2011, at her residence in Breese. She was 64 years of age. In addition to her husband Larry, Judy is survived by 2 step-sons - Larry (Heather) Shaver, Jr. of Poplar Grove, Illinois and Troy (Daneen) Shaver of Collinsville, Illinois; a sister - Julie (Dave) Wooters of Brentwood, Tennessee and a brother - John (Nancy) Zieren of Carlyle. Judy also considered the 1000 plus students that she taught at Germantown her children as well. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Monday, January 17 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M., and on Tuesday from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M. A luncheon will be held following the committal service at St. Mary's parish center. Expressions of sympathy in Mrs. Shaver's memory are suggested to Mater Dei High School, St. Mary's Youth Council, or the Clinton County Humane Society and will be received at the funeral home.
