Larry Boente

Larry N. Boente, age 64 of Carlyle, died on Saturday, September 16, 2006, near Pocahontas. He was born on August 9, 1942, in Houston, Texas, a son of Harry and Marjiene (Hodapp) Greene. He married Mary H. Boente and they were later divorced. He then married Telena "Tina" O'Brien on November 29, 2003, in New Harmony, Indiana and she survives. In addition to his wife Tina of Carlyle, Mr. Boente is survived by 3 daughters Shelly M. Boente of O'Fallon, Illinois, Tina J. Sprague and husband Theodore of O'Fallon and Tamatha J. York and husband Jeffrey of Eagle River, Alaska; 2 sons Stephen N. Boente and wife Faye E. and William D. Boente and wife Gina, all of O'Fallon; 7 grandchildren and 2 sisters Myrna Tessary and husband Terry of Collinsville and Helen Bausano and husband James of Alpharetta, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, William Douglas Boente. Mr. Boente was the president of Midland States Bank in Carlyle and was formerly the senior vice president of Boatmen's Bank in Belleville. Larry was an avid outdoorsman and conservationist. He was a member and former state chairman of Ducks Unlimited and was also active with the National Wild Turkey Federation. Mr. Boente was a member of the Catholic faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Thursday, September 21, 2006, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, with Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Interment will follow in McKendree Chapel Cemetery near Keyesport. Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and on Thursday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Boente may be made to St. Louis University Childrens' Hospital - Fetal Heart Center, for the benefit of Larry's granddaughter, Ella Sprague, and will be received at the funeral home.
