Leona M. Feldmann

Leona M. Feldmann, age 94 of Carlyle, passed away at her home on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. Mrs. Feldmann was born on March 20, 1920, in Carlyle, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Rolfers) Kunkel. She married Mark L. Feldmann at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle on May 26, 1947, and he preceded her in death on July 15, 2010. Leona is survived by her children - Dr. Marilyn Feldmann of Cullowhee, North Carolina, Dr. Ron Feldmann and wife Roseann of Sycamore, Illinois, Joyce Conner and husband Mike of Centralia, Illinois, Jan Radcliff and husband Cary of Belleville, Illinois and Dan Feldmann and wife Kim of Carlyle, Illinois; her grandchildren - Dr. Tim Feldmann and wife Dr. Monica Young of Costa Mesa, California, Chrissie Feldmann of Memphis, Tennessee, Matt Feldmann of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, Amanda Feldmann of Carlyle, Kacie Nordquist of Clearwater, Florida and Krystal Stephens of Tampa, Florida; a sister - Sr. Alice Kunkel, P.H.J.C. of Donaldson, Indiana; and a sister-in-law - Pat Kuczka and husband Gus of Atlanta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her husband - Mark L. Feldmann; her parents - John and Elizabeth Kunkel; her siblings - Sr. Johnel Kunkel, P.H.J.C., Aloys Kunkel and wife Betty, Ed Kunkel and wife Josephine, Helen Kunkel; her mother-and-father-in-law - John and Rose Feldmann; and her in-laws - Maurice Feldmann and wife Margaret, Mary Brueggemann and husband Arnold, Ralph Feldmann and wife Evelyn, Dorothy Radosh and husband Bill, Bernice Feldmann, Rev. Jerome Feldmann, and John Feldmann and wife Virginia. Mrs. Feldmann was a member of St. Mary's Church and St. Ann Altar Sodality. She worked at Moran Shoe Company, and retired from Zieren Furniture Company. Leona enjoyed quilting, working crossword puzzles, playing pinochle, baking, cooking, and canning. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, August 9, 2014, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Friday, August 8, 2014, from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M. Donations in her memory are suggested to St. Mary's Church or to Convent Ancilla Domini in Donaldson, Indiana and will be received at Zieren Day Funeral Home. Previous EventsVisitation
