Elaine Diekemper

Lois Elaine Diekemper, age 70 of rural Carlyle, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Caring First Nursing Home in Breese, Illinois. Mrs. Diekemper was born on November 9, 1942, in Centralia, Illinois, a daughter of Elza and Bertine (Adams) Mahan. She married Jerome Diekemper on August 29, 1981, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle and he survives in Carlyle. In addition to her husband Jerome, Elaine is also survived by a brother - Donald Mahan; a sister - Mary Ellen Little and husband Robert; a nephew - Michael Mahan and wife Nancy and a great nephew - Sawyer Mahan, all of California; her brothers-in-law - Wayne Diekemper and wife Dorothy and Joe Diekemper and wife Margaret "Mickey"; sisters-in-law - Julia Little and Geraldine Pingsterhaus; her step-mother - Mary Lager Diekemper; a step-brother - Jerry Lager and wife Kim; uncles and aunts - Johanna Diekemper, Ray and Leonilda Diekemper, Ferd and Alice Rehkemper, Flora Clemit, Vera Heidel and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents - Elza and Bertine Mahan; her mother and father-in-law - Joe and Lily Diekemper; a nephew - Troy Diekemper; brothers-in-law - Dr. Ted Little and Larry Pingsterhaus and great nieces - Talan Pingsterhaus and Katie Diekemper. Mrs. Diekemper was a homemaker and a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. She helped her husband care for their farm animals and loved her pet cats. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, April 22, 2013, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Sunday, April 21 from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 - 9:30 A.M.
