Lorene G. Voland Obituary (1921 - 2010)

Lorene G. Voland, age 88 of Beckemeyer, died Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at her residence. She was born August 17, 1921 in Wheatfield Township, a daughter of George and Catherine (Schoo) Lappe. She married Orbon Voland on April 17, 1941 at St. John's Church in Breese, and he preceded in death in 1999. She is survived by 4 sisters, Leona Lallman and husband Lavern of Beckemeyer, Olivia "Dolly" Isaak of Breese, Catherine "Babe" Woltering & husband Theodore of Beaver Prairie, a brother, Eugene "Pete" Lappe & wife Edith of Breese, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Walter and Edwin Lappe, and a sister, Irene Albat. Mrs. Voland worked at Moran Shoe Factory and Trimfoot Shoe Factory in Carlyle. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Breese, and Local 200A, United Shoe Workers of America. She enjoyed camping, fishing, and bingo. Funeral services will be conducted at Noon on Friday, January 8, 2010 at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle, with Rev. Lisa Hart officiating. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Breese. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 9:00 AM until service time. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mrs. Voland are suggested to St. John's Church, and will be received at the funeral home.
