Mathias Diekemper Obituary (1923

Mathias J. Diekemper, age 85 of Carlyle, entered into rest on Thursday, April 24, 2008, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois. Mr. Diekemper was born on January 23, 1923, in Carlyle, a son of Mathias M. and Rosa (Ilges) Diekemper. He married Johanna Beckmann on June 2, 1953, at St. Cecilia Church in Bartelso, Illinois and she survives in Carlyle. Mr. Diekemper is also survived by 4 sons Jerry Diekemper and wife Debbie of Carlyle, Matt Diekemper, Jr. and wife Betty of Centralia, Steve Diekemper and wife Lynn and Tony Diekemper and wife Brenda, all of Carlyle; 4 daughters Rose Almodovar and husband William of Breese, Betty Jo Beckemeyer and husband Larry of Carlyle, Tammy Timmermann and husband Kevin and Ginny Deiters and husband Wayne, all of Breese; 24 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is also survived by 2 brothers Joe Diekemper and wife Mary of Breese and Raymond Diekemper and wife Leonilda of Carlyle; 4 brothers-in-law Leo Beckmann and wife Leona of Carlyle, Alois Beckmann and wife Margie of Bartelso, Alfred Beckmann and wife Helen of Beckemeyer and Jerry Beckmann and wife Marilyn of Marine and 5 sisters-in-law Mary Mueller of Bartelso, Helen Heidenriech of St. Louis, Blanche Brueggemann of Bartelso, Virginia Beckmann of Beckemeyer and Bernett Beckmann of Bartelso. He was preceded in death by his parents; his mother and father-in-law Fred and Elisabeth Beckmann; a son-in-law Roger Haar; his sisters Julia Diekemper, Eleanor Diekemper, Florence Kluemke and husband George, Anna Voss and husband Edward; his brothers Bernard Diekemper, Henry Diekemper and wife Bernetta and his brothers-in-law Paul Beckmann, Dominic Beckmann, Leonard Beckmann, Joseph Mueller, Louis Heidenriech and Joseph Brueggemann. Mr. Diekemper was a dairy farmer and a veteran of the United States Army. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Carlyle and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 1382, Carlyle. He enjoyed playing cards, hunting and gardening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 28, 2008, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carlyle. Visitation will be held at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle on Sunday, April 27, 2008, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until 10:30 A.M. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary in Mr. Diekemper's memory on Sunday evening at 7:00 P.M. at St. Mary's Church. Memorials in memory of Mr. Diekemper may be made to the Parkinson's disease Foundation or the charity of the donor's choice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
