Norma A. Erlinger

Norma A. Erlinger, age 92 of Carlyle, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Carlyle Healthcare Center.

Mrs. Erlinger was born on August 26, 1922, in Centralia, Illinois, a daughter of Henry and Clara (Harting) Knipping. She married Leroy J. "Bud" Erlinger at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle on July 25, 1945, and he preceded her in death on December 14, 2002.

Mrs. Erlinger is survived by a son - David Erlinger and wife Charlene of Nashville; 2 grandchildren - Jennifer Schuette and husband Kent and Jill Stein and husband Jeremy, all of Nashville; her great grandchildren - Madison and Jordan Schuette, and Brady, Gracie, and Karlie Stein; a brother-in-law - Orville Rueter and wife Bernice of Carlyle; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband; her father- and mother-in-law - John and Helen Erlinger; a brother - Lee Knipping and wife Gertrude; 2 sisters - Pauline Eikhoff and husband Fred, and Elvira Butler and husband Wayne; and her sisters-in-law - Johanna Rueter, Ruth Becker, Cleo Frerker, and Betty Lou Erlinger.

Mrs. Erlinger was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church and had worked at Schroeder's Department Store. She loved watching Cardinals baseball, playing bingo and golf, and bowling.

A funeral service will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle on Friday, May 1, 2015, at 10:00 A.M. with Rev. Steve Sommerer, officiating. Interment will follow at Carlyle Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Messiah Lutheran Church on Friday morning from 8:30 - 10:00 A.M.
