Norma Jeane Fritz

Norma Jeane Fritz, age 81 of Carlyle, died Monday, March 2, 2015 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese, Illinois.

She was born on February 14, 1934, in Grinnell, Iowa, a daughter of Stan and Ruby (Butler) Ahrens. She married Arnold William "Bill" Fritz on June 21, 1953, in Malcom, Iowa, and he survives in Carlyle. Norma is also survived by 2 daughters - Dawn Stedelin and husband John of Robinson, Illinois and Jelene Rickhoff and husband Ken of Bartelso; a son, Dale Fritz of Birmingham, Alabama; 5 grandchildren - Jarrod Ashby and wife Crystal, Brook Stewart and husband Jim, Brent Rickhoff, Renae Poole and husband Adam, and Jenna Sims and husband Bryan; 8 great grandchildren; a brother - Donald Ahrens and wife Linda of Grinnell, Iowa; a sister-in-law - Juanita Ahrens; and a brother-in-law - Rick Curphy. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister - Mary Ellen Curphy; and 2 brothers - Paul and Raymond Ahrens.

Norma attended Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa. Norma and Bill moved to Carlyle in 1966, and she worked at the Clinton County Assessor's Office for 32 years. She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, and sang in the church choir. She bowled in the Monday Night Ladies League and played bridge in the Thursday Night Bridge League. Norma also enjoyed sewing, crafts, and decorating cakes.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, March 6, 2015, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, with Rev. Steve Sommerer officiating. The family will greet friends at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. Interment will be later at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Malcom, Iowa.
