Ocie L. Seay Obituary (1917

Ocie L. Seay was born on April 17, 1917, in Adamsville, Tennessee, a daughter of Claud and Evaleen (nee Matlock) Cooksey. She married Raymond L. Seay on February 26, 1937, in Corinth, Mississippi and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1987. Mrs. Seay was a member of the Church of Christ in Norfolk, Virginia and called the Way of Life Church in Carlyle her home. She was a home maker and ran a laundry service out of her home. Ocie enjoyed sewing, gardening and canning,playing the organ and singing and was an avid Cardinals fan. Mrs. Seay loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Ocie L. Seay entered into rest on Thursday, July 26, 2012, surrounded by her family at her residence in Carlyle. She was 95 years of age. Survivors include 2 sons - Charles "Chuck" Seay of Lakeport, California and Donald Seay and wife Patsy of Portsmouth, Virginia; a daughter - Vickie Sheets and husband Ricky of Carlyle; 4 grandchildren - Mike Seay and wife Kim, Tami Dunn and husband David, Krista Seay and Savannah Collier and husband Marvin; 7 great grandchildren - Kyle and Seth Dunn, Hannah and Haley Seay, Alex Otero and Gavin and Parker Collier and a sister-in-law, Ann Cooksey. She was preceded in death by her parents - Claud and Evaleen Cooksey; her husband Raymond L. Seay; a daughter-in-law - Janet McWilliams; a granddaughter - Elizabeth Seay; a sister -Burcenea Churchwell and husband Jessie and 3 brothers - Cleo Cooksey and wife Emma and L.C. "Bill" Cooksey. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 28, 2012, at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle with Rev. Jason McIntosh, officiating. Interment will follow at Carlyle Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Saturday morning from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Ocie may be made to the American Lung Association and will be received at the funeral home.
