O.J. "John" Partain Obituary (2018)

O.J. "John" Partain, age 92 of Beckemeyer, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 18, 2018. Mr. Partain was born on September 17, 1925, in Dover, Arkansas a son of Oliver John and Anna Mae (Jones) Partain. He married Anna Johnson on April 10, 1948, and she preceded him in death on March 20, 2003. John is survived by two daughters - Janet Gammon of Beckemeyer and Sherry Foster and husband Carl of Sandoval; his grandchildren - Tonica Fischer and husband Alan, Lavonda Ricklefs and husband Thomas, Kay Foster, and Tyler Foster and fiance Lindsay Mansker; two step-grandchildren - Corey Gammon and wife Chastity and Crystal Wilson and husband Dan; his great grandchildren - Clarissa Wilkinson and husband Tyler, Brandon and Dylan Fischer, Ethan and Blake Ricklefs, Colton and Shyanne Winkeler, and Raylin, Wyatt, Kendel, Kylie, and Kenslie Foster; several step great grandchildren; and his brother - Bobby Partain of California. He was preceded in death by his parents - Oliver and Anna Mae Partain; his wife - Anna Partain; a sister - Georgia Marie Pritchard and her husband Dwain; a son-in-law - Ed Gammon; and a sister-in-law - Dorothy Partain. Mr. Partain was a veteran of the United States Navy and served during World War II. He worked at the Ziegler Stove Foundry in Centralia and served as a Beckemeyer Police Officer. John also worked for the City of Beckemeyer, the Sandoval Smelter, and was the owner of A&J Diner in Carlyle. He had many hobbies, but he loved to hunt, fish, camp and work in his garden. A funeral service will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, January 22, 2018, with Rev. Steve Barrett, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Odin Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home on Sunday, January 21, from 2:00 - 6:00 P.M. and on Monday from 8:00 - 10:00 A.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Partain are suggested to the Boy Scout Troop 281, Carlyle. Donations will be accepted at Zieren Funeral Home.
