Otto J Rutz Obituary (1924

Otto J. Rutz, Jr., age 91 of Carlyle, passed away at Carlyle Healthcare Center on Monday, March 7, 2016. Mr. Rutz was born on September 25, 1924, in Belleville, Illinois, a son of Otto J. and Julia M. (Honen) Rutz, Sr. He married Patricia E. Hanson on April 29, 1961, in Carlyle and she preceded him in death on March 9, 2006. Mr. Rutz is surevived by a son - Jay Hanson of Georgia; a daughter in law - Marilyn Barbaglia and husband Louis of Carlyle; 4 grandchildren - Jason Hanson, Chris Hanson, Kortney Hohmeyer and husband Alex, and Abbie Potter and husband Sawyer; a great grandson - Ryan; 3 brothers - Charles "Bucky" Rutz, Warren Rutz, and Norman Rutz; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and his siblings - Leora Grossmann, Marie Wedeking, Shirley Holtgrave, and Fred Rutz. Otto was a veteran of the United States Navy and was the owner of Rutz Painting and Decorating. He was a member of the Carlyle V.F.W., Carlyle American Legion, and the Sportsman's Club. A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, at St. Mary's Cemetery in Carlyle.
