Peter E. "Ed" Frank Obituary (1921

Peter E. "Ed" Frank, age 85 of Carlyle, died Friday, May 4, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. He was born December 20, 1921, in Highland, a son of Edward R. and Rose M. (Tremmel) Frank. He married Beatrice "Bea" Clanton on January 22, 1952, in Highland, and she survives. Also surviving is a son, Kevin Frank & wife Sharon M. and a daughter, Suzanne Christ & husband Richard, all of Carlyle; and 5 grandchildren, Kevin Frank & fianc Vanessa Wheaton, Krista Frank, and Steve, Laura, and Nicholas Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Daniel Frank on June 1, 1978. Mr. Frank served with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theatre during World War II and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a businessman in Carlyle for 60 years. He was a partner in R.W. Ziegler Jewelry in Carlyle from 1947-1964, when he became sole owner and changed the name to Ed Frank Jewelry. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle, Knights of Columbus, Council 3523, the Highland V.F.W. and Carlyle American Legion, Helvetia Sharpshooters Association, Illinois Jewelers Association, and Jewelers of America. Ed was also an avid Cub fan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 7, 2007, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle with Fr. George Mauck officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call at Zieren Day Funeral Home Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and Monday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 A.M. The Knights of Columbus will pray the rosary on Sunday at 7:00 P.M. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Mr. Frank are suggested to the Parkinson Foundation, American Heart Assn, or St. Mary's Church.
