Carlyle, Illinois
Sadie Louise Tull was a fiercely independent woman made of steel and fire who left us too soon. Her intense, short life began on October 22, 1984 just two days before her beloved Pawpaw's birthday. As a child, she spent many hours playing softball, watching Pee Wee's Big Adventure, swimming, playing swing ball with her cousins, creating art and a whole lot of bossing her two little brothers around. She was like fireworks in human form. She never got very tall, barely 5 feet, but she had the tenacity of a honey badger. She loved The Cure and Les Miserables and eating cold leftovers standing in front of the open fridge ... when she wasn't eating food off her brothers' plates. She loved sitting on the beach at Lincoln Township Park on Lake Michigan.
Sadie lived many lives in her 41 years. She was an award-winning cake designer and decorator. She was a tattoo artist, a real estate agent In New York City, a kennel worker in St. Louis, a correctional officer in Illinois and Missouri, a security guard, studied mortuary science for a bit, created beautiful artwork and pet portraits, just to name a few. She gave generously to others and helped where she saw need, like when she volunteered for Meals on Wheels during covid, but for herself lived a simple life with few amenities. However, her generosity knew no bounds for her family and friends. Her love for animals and her artistic ability melded perfectly when she established her successful dog grooming business, whimsically named " Furfetti," and it had many happy and devoted clients, of the two-legged and four-legged variety. Her Furfetti friends were loyal to her and she was dedicated to them.
Sadie was devoted to her two brothers, Stewart and Dil and her darling nieces Amelia, Llewellyn, and Frankie, all who have survived her. And the loves of her life were her cherished dogs Olaf, Piper and Meiko, who preceded her in death. Sadie left behind her parents Jay Paul Tull (Jana) and Myrna (Tucker) Piehl (Robert), who will miss her intensely. Her loving sisters-in-law Raevin Rather and Meghan Tull survive and mourn her passing. Step siblings, Elizabeth, Elliott (Jessica) and Ethan (Sydney) Engele and Caroline (Brian) Richardson and Stephanie Piehl all survive, as well. Sadie has many loving cousins, aunts, uncles and great-aunts who still survive her and will miss her greatly.
