Thomas A. Zeitz Obituary (1936

Thomas A. Zeitz, age 80 of Hoffman, Illinois passed away at his home on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. Mr. Zeitz was born in St. Louis, Missouri on November 30, 1936, a son of Lawrence and Josephine (Perrano) Zeitz. He married Donna Griesemer in St. Louis in June of 1979 and she survives in Hoffman. In addition to his wife Donna, Thomas is also survived by his three sons - Steve Zeitz of St. Charles, Missouri, Pat Zeitz of O'Fallon, Missouri and Mike Zeitz of St. Charles; and two granddaughters - Emily and Amy Zeitz. Mr. Zeitz graduated from St. Louis University High School, earned his Bachelor's Degree at Harris Teachers College, and his Master's Degree at Washington University. He was a teacher and principal, retiring as the Principal at Pine Lawn School in the Normandy School District. Mr. Zeitz served in the United States Coast Guard and achieved the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He enjoyed the outdoors, and loved to fish, hunt, and play golf. A Graveside service with military honors will be held at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, October 23, 2017. Visitation will be held at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle from 2:00 - 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, October 22, 2017. In lieu of flowers or other gifts, the family suggests donations in his memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or to the charity of the donor's choice. Memorials will be received at Zieren Funeral Home in Carlyle.
