Virginia R. Nix Obituary (1921 - 2008)

Virginia R. "Ginny" Nix, age 87 of Carlyle, entered into rest on Friday, September 12, 2008, at Carlyle Healthcare Center in Carlyle, Illinois. Mrs. Nix was born on April 4, 1921, in St. Louis, Missouri, a daughter of William and Cecelia (Braun) Cinnater. She married Robert J. "Bob" Nix on November 20, 1941, in St. Louis and he survives in Carlyle. Also surviving are 2 daughters - Barbara Jean O'Dea and husband Richard of Paterson, New Jersey and Janet Ann "Jan" Golding and husband Richard W. Sr. "Ric" of Carlyle; 2 granddaughters, Jennifer Ann O'Dea and Andrea (Golding) Merian & husband Theo; a grandson, Richard W. "Skip" Golding & wife Tina; 3 great grandchildren, Payton Golding, Luke Merian and Mara Merian; and a niece, Jane (Tunze) Bird. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Helen (Lee) Tunze and Caroline Wegener; and 4 brothers, William, Joseph, Charles and Elmer Cinnater. Mrs. Nix had worked for Bell Telephone in St. Louis, the downtown St. Louis Famous Barr, and Benson's Clothing in Kirkwood. Mrs. Nix moved to Carlyle from Kirkwood, Missouri in 2005. She was a devoted wife and loving mother and enjoyed life's blessings to the fullest. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle. Interment will be Wednesday at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. The family will greet friends at Zieren Day Funeral Home on Monday from 4:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday after 8:00 A.M. Memorials in memory of Mrs. Nix are suggested to the Carlyle Healthcare Center Activities Department or to Villa Catherine Assisted Living Center and will be accepted at the funeral home.
